A group of recent New York brides spill on their wedding-planning thrills and fiascoes. (By Denise Penny and New York weddings )

The Engagement

“When it happened I didn’t cry as much as my mother, who lost her mind.”

Anyone resort to strong-arming?

Raeanne: Sort of. We had been dating for five years. Would I have waited five more? Probably not.
Alex: I had help. My husband has a group of eight best friends; as soon as one proposed, it was like dominoes. He was so happy not to go first.

How long were your engagements?

Nina: A year and a half. I wasn’t looking forward to the planning.
Meg: You were smart! We didn’t give ourselves time to enjoy it. Our engagement quickly became about money and feeling guilt about wanting certain things. That sucked.
Sita: Mine was six months. Intense. We wanted summer and didn’t want to live with wedding planning for that long.
Raeanne: The upside of our one- and-a-half-year engagement was getting our first-choice venue, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and paying 2007 prices for our 2008 wedding.

Did you pay for your wedding?

Raeanne: Well, we paid for the band.
Chloe: We paid for part of ours—not the lion’s share. My mother said, “If you elope, we’ll just give you the money and you can use it for a down payment.”
Meg: Mine too!
Raeanne: Mine too!
Chloe: Now I feel horrible for choosing a party!
Meg: I felt so wasteful. Vendors told me to take the money and run. They told me that we’d regret it when we’re their age, and I thought, You can say that now because you’ve already had yours.
Ramona: For me, the party was so much for my parents.
Sita: We considered eloping, but my dad would have killed us.

The Planning
“I was prepared not to be human for the month before the wedding. I felt like a machine. I never slept.”

Did any of you hire a wedding planner?

Meg: We did. My family and my husband didn’t get along with her.
Daphne: I didn’t have the best experience. We hired somebody for the day of. She came in and started contacting the vendors without talking to us, changing times after things had already been set.
Nina: I hired Preeti Shah of Spotlight Style—she was incredible for day of. I had two weddings: an Indian reception on Friday night and a Western wedding on Saturday.
Alex: We interviewed ten. With each one we were like, Eh. And for the money you’re paying! We asked our venue who they like working with and who had worked there before. It was the best strategy. It’s been several months since our wedding and I still miss my planner, Eyal Tessler of In Any Event, every day.

How involved were your parents?

Raeanne: I fought with Mom about silly things I didn’t want to spend money on—like, she really wanted valet parking. Also, she wanted her name and my father’s name on the invitations, and I wanted them to come from us. She said, “No, we’re hosting this. I want our names on it.” The wedding brings out a whole other side of people.
Meg: My mom didn’t think navy blue was formal enough for our invites. I went back to Kate’s Paperie like 18 times.
Sita: My dad wanted these really traditional, enormous multilayered invitations from India, which I wanted nothing to do with. I ended up ordering them; they came, Dad saw them, they were not loved, and they were returned.

How involved were your grooms?

Alex: Very.
Meg: Surprisingly opinionated.
Raeanne: His thing was the music. We hired the Lou Davis Band and they were incredible. But other than that, he couldn’t get into the details. My mother and I are very detail-oriented, and he got tired of hearing about it.

Did the wedding planning take a toll on your relationship?

Sita: It was six months of planning, with no mother involved. The two of us planned everything. I would have meltdowns and yell at him.
Alex: We fought. My husband would say, “You’re going to drive me insane. You just need to make a decision!” But you stress about every decision. All of a sudden, you can’t make one. At one point we decided to schedule times to talk about the wedding. We said, “You know what? We can’t talk about this all the time!”
Sita: My husband would say, “You’re more than the wedding.” It became my mantra: I’m more than this wedding; this wedding does not define me.

Willow Weddings: Trash the dress photography

Trash the dress, also known as fearless bridal or rock the frock, is a style of wedding photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is out of place. It is generally shot in the style of fashion and glamour photography. (wikipedia)

Usually brides decide to have pictures taken on a beach, but other locations include city streets, rooftops, garbage dumps, fields, and abandoned buildings.

Some sources claim that the trend was originally started in 2001 by Las Vegas wedding photographer John Michael Cooper. However, the idea of destroying a wedding dress has been used in Hollywood symbolically since at least October 1998 when Meg Cummings of the show Sunset Beach ran into the ocean in her wedding dress after her wedding was badly interrupted. Since then the style has spread around the world and most notably in the UK, with photographers like Steve Gerrard and Mark Theisinger, amongst others, shoot their unique ideas of Trash the Dress.

A model often wears a ball gown, prom dress or wedding dress, and may effectively ruin the dress in the process by getting it wet, dirty or in extreme circumstances tearing or destroying the garment.

It may be done as an additional shoot after the wedding, almost as a declaration that the wedding is done and the dress will not be used again. It is seen as an alternative to storing the dress away, never to be seen again.

How to Trash Your Wedding Dress

A new trend in wedding photography offers brides an edgy alternative for the wedding dress after the ceremony. “Trash the Dress” allows a bride to abandon the idea of a perfectly preserved wedding gown by taking post-wedding photos in edgy, artsy settings. Brides wear wedding gowns in settings such as peeping out among corn stalks, climbing into the loft of an abandoned barn and splashing around in the ocean waves.

There’s nothing more fun for a wedding photographer than “Trash the Dress” photos. They require timing, skill, and often difficult locations to get the shot just right.

Things You’ll Need:

Wedding dress

Photographer

Sense of adventure

Step 1

: Commit to the trashing. You’ve committed to the groom. That was the easy part. Now you must commit to trashing the dress. While this may be an easy decision for some, it will be difficult for others, and it’s not for everyone. Depending on your photography session photos and poses, your dress will likely get dirty, snagged or torn.

Step 2

: Know that it’s not about destroying the dress. Trash the Dress is a non-traditional and artistic way to capture additional memories of the dress you love so much. Chances are, you won’t be wearing it again, and neither will your daughter.

Step 3

: Select a photographer. Preferably, you will want a wedding photographer who has conducted a Trash the Dress session or is familiar with the concept. Otherwise, set up consultations with a few wedding photographers in your area to discuss the idea.

Step 4

: Choose a location. Be creative and imaginative, exploring intriguing settings in your city or town. You probably pass great venues every day without even realizing it. Consider subway stations, abandoned warehouses, salvage yards, farms, fields or lakes.

Step 5

: Trash the dress. (Again, you don’t have to totally trash the dress here.) Just relax and enjoy yourself during the photo session. Again, this is your chance to preserve your wedding dress in a distinctive way. Use your imagination and don’t be afraid of a little dirt or a minor snag.

Step 6

: Clean it up. After your session, you can still have the dress cleaned and preserved for safe-keeping. Who knows? Maybe you’ll want another session in a few years. Or, one altruistic alternative is donating your dress to a charitable cause.

Need some more advices from the experts? Here some from expert stylish and founder of stylista.com, Chantelle Znideric

Wear a wedding dress that suits your body shape

With so many dress choices out there the task is indeed a daunting affair. Don’t be fazed by what seems like hundreds of different dress styles and avoid advice from hard selling shop assistants (some benefit from substantial commissions).

Everyone is individual so remember, what might look fabulous on somebody else may not necessarily suit your body shape or proportions.

Take a friend along who has a similar build and frame to you, when you pick out a dress get her to try it on for you as well. It’s always easier to see what you like and dislike on somebody else.

Focus on enhancing your best bits

The secret to looking great whatever size you are is to enhance the bits you like about your body.

For example, if you have well toned arms, beautiful shoulders and neck then don’t just go for a typical strapless style; draw attention to this area by choosing a dress with an unusual neckline or a halter neck style for instance.

It’s not about what you wear but how you wear it

You are gorgeous so just remember that – YOU are the one getting married after all!

You are the lucky one getting married, so you will be wearing the biggest smile ever – you will instantly look and feel more confident without even knowing it!

Advice from my friend Elaine in U.k

(http://www.reellifephotos.co.uk /Elaine@weddingphotos-video.co.uk )

Although I don’t want to destroy any bride’s dreams, particularly if you have already decided upon or bought your perfect wedding dress, this very popular style of dress tends to be very uncomfortable when worn all day, with many attempted photos being ruined by the constant need to hike the bodice up again when it has slipped unacceptably low.

It also tends to rub so we often see brides with sore red patches by the end of the day.

This style is so difficult to hold up, that many brides lace themselves in super tightly, which – besides being very restrictive – means the photographer is then asked to remove the “second boob” that overhangs the real ones.

There is even a real risk in well-endowed brides of the sheer weight of their assets dragging the dress down, leading to discomfort.

So whether you are a buxom D cup and beyond or a delicate A cup, the problems always tend to manifest themselves! I hope this little snippet of information has helped you in your search for the perfect wedding day!

Second part of the amazing answers to the topic ” If Brides only knew” from Bridaltweets. com

I wish brides had a better understanding of the bridal industry on a whole. I wish brides understood that without the right budget, you cannot afford to have Champaign taste and a shoe string budget. Bridal Consultants are professional planners… we feed our families this way. Please do not take advantage of your Consultant. He/She is working diligently on your behalf; appreciate them for a job well done. If your consultant/planner is at the top of their game they should be saving you money because of relationships buildt between vendors. That’s the benefit to having a Bridal Consultant.

…………………….

All they need to know is who their invited guests are! Sounds simple, but we all know how difficult it is to pare down the list. As a calligrapher I only require names and address for invitations — getting to that point is the hard part! My turnaround is running 3-4 weeks but getting close to June it gets tighter especially for place card work — that always needs to be done last minute. So I would say — brides should know to plan in advance and book your calligrapher a least a month in advance!
Great thread by the way!
www.connecticutcalligraphy.com

…………………..

I wish they would hire vendors based on quality work AND their compatibility with each other. I find too many couples leave important elements, like their flowers, to 2 – 4 months before and they find their budgets are used up and want everything for nothing. It is also helpful if couples have a clear idea of what they like and don’t like-I spend so much time creating a vision with them, spend hours researching the products and working on the quote only to have them tell me how much they love me and my ideas but have chosen someone else-cheaper! Showing me high end wedding magazines when you have no budget doesn’t help anyone.

Rosalba Fasan-Buffat

………………….

I’d like brides to know that wedding videography/cinematography can be so much more than pretty moving pictures set to music. I’d love for them to know that while you can put your album on your coffee table, and frame your favorite photos, only a great wedding film can capture the voices, words, and stories that “flesh out” every chapter of the wedding day. I’d like brides to know that years from now, the sound of their parents’ voices talking to them as they get ready – and about them, as well, throughout the day, will be priceless. That grandparents’ advice for long and wonderful marriages, told in their own words and heard in their own voices will be blessings heard again and again; that couples will laugh and cry hearing again the first words spoken to one another as they recess back down the aisle as married partners. I’d like brides to know that editing an amazing film can take over a month of full-time work and should really cost well over 10K. That wedding films can be shown on iPods and iPhones. I’d like brides to know that most wedding videographers haven’t shown your what’s possible, because you’ve been advised to spend far less on a videographer than on your photographer, so that they really can’t offer you all that they can do.
I’d like brides to watch some really amazing wedding films (go to www.generationscinemastories.com) and then reconsider where they might want to list videography/cinematography in their list of priorities.
I wish brides knew that brides who hired a videographer/cinematographer prior to their wedding valued the expense HIGHER after the wedding than before; and, that a significant percentage of brides who opted not to have their weddings filmed, regretted the decision!

……………………

I wish brides knew how important wedding planners really are!! We are usually the first to get cut, if we even made it to the list at all. Brides just don’t understand how much stress we can take off a bride, especially on the wedding day.

http://www.EnchantedAffairs.net

I would like future brides know their budget, even approximately. They can not understand how much it helps them and after us. In Greece the financial support of parents in couples to be married, is a tradition. This may sound good but it is very confusing. Because parents are paying, they require to invite friends, relatives and colleagues completely unknown to the couple. This leads that the list of guests to grow much, while the couple make different plans about their wedding. In the end all upset because the parents can not afford financially and the couple has to start economic compromises . Huge mess.
These are affect the work of a wedding planner too. You need great patience to face all these (and much more) changes during the planning.

I thought it is a good idea to convey very useful views of wedding professionals (wedding planners, photographers, make up artists, hairdressers, vendor etc), relating to future brides. Εxtracts from discussions in www.bridal tweet.com, where I am a member.

” I wish Bride and Grooms understood the cost of amazing, professional photography! A lot of girls have no idea how much professional light equipment cost, liability insurance, insurance on you equipment! Do you know that just 1 professional lens can cost anywhere from $2,500- $4,000? If a photographer does not have these type a equipment, your images could suffer greatly! I try to educate everyone I can to reassure them they are making the right choice when they chose Alternative Life Photography & Design! Cheers everyone and happy tweeting!”

…………………..

” I wish brides only knew the importance of hiring a good wedding planner. Most brides look at planners as an extra expense, but when you factor in the time and money you can save by hiring a planner that has the contacts and resources on hand to make your wedding run without a hitch, not to mention the huge burden of stress that a planner can help to relieve, there really should be no other way to go! “

…………………..

” I would really like when brides come to me with a scrapbook of hair accessories that they like. I have had over the time that I have been in business found that only a handfull of brides know what they want. This is a bit fustrating for me the designer, when they say to me “You will Know if it suits me”, Hello, I am the jewellery designer not your best friend since you were a child! I have only just met you!!!”

…………………..

“On the whole I believe that Brides should have a good idea of how they would like to have their hair styled around 4 months to the wedding, this then gives not only me the designer and the hair stylist a chance to give them ideas and for me to actually have the hair accessory ready for the final hair trail. ”

Celine Flynn
Cel Design Jewellery

…………………..

” I so wish brides would follow their own hearts! Friends/Family members really complicate things when a bride consults too many people and then becomes confused. Most of the time those friends/family members aren’t actually trying to follow the brides wishes, and put their own opinions into play. The bride becomes indecisive and has so many regrets.

That is the one thing I wish that brides knew…
Make your wedding YOURS “

…………………..

” Brides should have a time line. Often they come to me before they have a venue selected. Selecting the venue, garden, home residence sets the tone immediately. Immediately they can deduct from the budget they have.

Then seek out a reputable caterer who should do a walk through of the venue and get a sense of the brides style and personality. A good full service caterer can help select a budget friendly menu with a variety of options.

Please know the difference between a buffet dinner and a sit down dinner.

Please be realistic about the budget – don’t just guess and be honest when about what you have to spend and not play games by saying you only have $10,000.00 when you actually have $13,000.00

Don’t waste vendor’s time by price shopping every where and then believing you are an expert”

…………………..

” Brides need a condensed version of things they needs to do and know before talking to their first vendor or trying on their first wedding dress. The number of brides who come into my store thinking they have plenty of time to buy/order their wedding dress with only two or three months before the wedding are under a big misconception. Brides need to be seriously thinking about purchasing/ordering their wedding dress at least nine months before the wedding to insure ‘on time’ delivery and with enough lead time just in case there is a problem with their dress. Problems do happen about 10% of the time. Waiting until the last minute not only limits the bride to her choices, but also adds additional rush cut and rush transit charges. And when a bride waits until the last minute, this will also greatly impact the bridal party who also now have to rush cut and rush ship their dresses.”

There are many reasons why the couples want to choose a particular wedding color and it is not the decision to be taken lightly. Colors represent a mood, a feeling. Choosing wedding colors can be one of the trickiest tasks or it can be very simple if you let it go. It could help you decide easier If you knew what is the meaning of the colors.

Black: represents power and authority but can also imply submission.

Blue: when you look at the color blue you feel calm and tranquil and light blue can represent happiness and patience.

Brown: considered a favorite more amongst men this can be a wistful and sad color.

Gold: corresponds to positivity, extravagance and richness.

Green: symbolizing nature this color can feel calming as well as refreshing and it signified fertility and harmony.

Orange: this autumn color characterizes knowledge and energy.

Pink: denoting friendship and love.

Purple: romantic and royal this can also signify spirituality and mystery.

Red: the color of romance and love indication passion, beauty and celebration.

White: the most innocent of colors reflects purity and peace.

Yellow: believed to be an overpowering color it also represents friendship and intellect.

Some tips to decide. Take a look around in your every day life. Your closet can be your inspiration. What about the colors of your favorite scarf? maybe your sweater? or look through bridal magazines? From table linens, to favors, to invitation cards to your bridesmaid dresses, the color you will choose will determine all these important details. Keep in mind that certain flowers may be dictated by your color palette as well as the time of year you will be married. For example if you LOVE peonies you will probably incorporate pinks or whites in your color scheme.

Winter weddings: Most brides associate red and green with Christmas, but you don’t have to limit your decorative palette to just these two colors, burgundy, silver, gold, browns and light blue can work just as well to capture the essence of winter. Red looks also gorgeous with aquas, grays or even greens. The perfect color for Winter weddings and summer too.

Autumn weddings: Getting married in autumn with the glorious burst of colors in the trees, the crisp crunch of dried leaves underfoot, the nip in the air and the abundance of choices you have with this season being one of the most dramatic symbols of endings and beginnings autumn stands for. Colors of rust red, deep red, navy blue, eggplant purple, pewter, silver, pale yellow, pumpkin orange as well as white, ivory, champagne and beige mixed with twigs and berries can be used for a truly magical harvest type display.

Spring and summer weddings: Orange with a bright and cheery color like yellow or aqua, green means growth, new life and positive energy it could be perfect when paired with a bright color like pink, yellow has endless possibilities and one thing is for sure- Yellow is 100 % fun! pink and pale pink goes beautifully with champagne, light greens & grays. Pink is delicate, soft & beyond charming.

The combinations are endless. In order to research as much as you can about what color goes with which other color, try using any of the following advice tools: Color wheel, Designers or consultants, Home décor, Magazines and of course internet.

On the island of Skopelos you can find traditional products from women’ s cooperatives. They can be used as favors for your wedding. They are unique creations rich in nutrients but they are also a wonderful keepsake for you and your guests.

Skopelos honey has excellent quality, rich aroma and taste. The rich flora of the island, which consists of numerous wild plants, shrubs and herbs in conjunction with forest trees, offers the advantage of its diversity, in terms of taste and aroma. The local production comes from honeydew excretions (forest honey) and flowers (flower honey).

Most of the forest honey is from pine trees which they are planted around the island, and the chestnut. This type of honey does not crystallize and has a high nutritional value due to the high content of trace elements (potassium, sodium, magnesium, iron, etc.). The honey from heather flowers, strawberry, wild clover, bramble and wild herbs such as thyme, oregano, sage, rosemary and more.

There are currently about 15 beekeepers in Skopelos, about 2,000 cells, which have seen throughout the countryside. Beekeepers move their hives from place to place and from side to side to take advantage of the blooming season. In general, the harvest of honey is made immediately after the feeding period to ensure optimum flavor.

In areas like Glossa and Klima growing almond was one of the main crops in Skopelos. Almonds are the raw material for local characteristic sweets. The most famous and appropriate sweets as wedding favors are: Haimalia & Amigdalato (sweets, made with chopped peeled almonds and sugar in syrup ) and Rozedes (made from grated almonds, sugar and fermented with rosewater. Then sprinkled with sugar).

As for the traditional folk art shops you will find beautiful handmade pottery, weaving and embroidery.

Willow Weddings: Beach Wedding Invitations

Are you still planning your beach wedding? If yes, then you need some tips :

There are hundreds of designs for beach themed invitations. The cards may be single sheets or folded, may include a vellum overlay or accents, and can be nearly any size or shape including edges scalloped like waves. Colors range from simple, formal monochromes to delicate pastels to vibrant rainbows. Most invitations, however, use a single beach-oriented image as a focal point, either as a border, background, or beautiful accent to the invitation text. Popular images for invitations for beach weddings include:

Shells are popular accents

Cruise ships or yachts

Treasure maps

Beach chairs

Sandcastles

Fish, seahorses, dolphins, sea turtles, or other marine life

Waves, shorelines, or other basic beach scenes

Sunsets over the beach

Lighthouses or docks

Flip flops, beach umbrellas, or other associated beach accessories

If a couple can’t find the right beach invitations for their event, another option is to create photo invitations with pictures of the beach where they will wed. Couples can also search for invitations with destination or nautical themes for other options that may suit their beach wedding.

Many couples choose to add accents to a basic wedding invitation to create a custom, personalized look. Popular accents for beach invitations include:

Tulle or other lightweight ribbon, usually in white, teal, aqua, or other beach colors

An enclosed packet of beach sand or sand glued to the paper

Small shells glued to the invitation or enclosed with it

Note : When adding these accents, however, couples should be aware that they can drastically increase the price of the invitation and the postage necessary to deliver it.

http://www.mypersonalartist.com/beachweddinginvitations

While the basic wedding invitation wording is the same for a beach wedding as for any other wedding, invitations to this type of destination wedding do require some special considerations.

*The invitations should be mailed earlier to allow them to find the best travel deals and arrange for any other travel plans.

* Considerate couples will note if the ceremony will take place on the sand so guests can dress appropriately, especially for footwear.

* Many beaches have only limited parking available, and enclosing a map of the area and alternative parking is a good idea to help guests find the site

Please note : Many beach invitations, are brightly colored, but a bold color palette is not as appropriate for a formal evening affair. Instead, you can opt for softer shades or a monochrome look with a beach theme. There are many invitation colors available to match your wedding colors, but take care not to overdo your use of color. A beach wedding invitation should also match the style of the beach’s geographical location.

vintage clothing was increasingly worn by celebrities, e.g. Julia Roberts, Chloe Sevigny, Kate Moss, and Dita von Teese.

There has also been an increasing interest in environmental sustainability in terms of reusing, recycling and repairing rather than throwing things away. A resurgence of historically based sub-cultural groups like rockabilly and swing dancing has also played a part in the increase in interest in vintage clothes.

Other reasons that some people are attracted to vintage clothing include:

Unique or almost unique: most items were custom made, and others were manufactured in small quantities only.

Good quality: they were designed to be worn for years and passed on to other family members, so they were made of robust materials, well cut and well made, with generous seam allowances and hems which allow for alterations and custom fit.

Fine materials: many of the unusual older fabric types are no longer manufactured, or are now prohibitively expensive.

Value for money: garments generally sell for a cost far below similar new modern garments.

History: an appreciation of the past, the roles of previous generations and the skills of respected designers.

Detailing: hand finishing, unusual buttons, hand embroidery, handmade lace, crochet, applique, beading and other techniques.

Style: vintage clothing has traditionally been the favourite of creative personalities because it offers an enormously wide range of imaginative styles.

Investment: some people buy to collect rather than to wear, and increasingly, good quality vintage garments especially items by well-known designers are sought after by collectors.

At times, the cycle of fashion design turns to history for inspiration, and garments closely resembling original vintage (retro or antique) clothing are manufactured. An example of this is the simple slip dresses that emerged in the early 1990s and were based on undergarments of the 1930s. These styles are generally referred to as “vintage inspired” or “vintage reproductions” depending on the faithfulness to the historical design, and serve as a convenient alternative to those who admire an old style but prefer a modern interpretation – another advantage is that, unlike the original garments, they are usually available in a range of sizes and perhaps, colors and/or fabrics. [en.wikipedia.org]

Some people are saying that... Civil marriages may overtake religious weddings by 2012!

New figures published by the Central Statistics Office show that thousands of couples are opting for civil ceremonies rather than religious weddings. The proportion of civil marriages has increased dramatically from just 6% (or 928) of all marriages in 1996 to just over 23% (or 5,127) in 2006. In Dublin, civil ceremonies accounted for some 42% of all marriages in 2006, the highest figure in the State.

In 1996, the number of Catholic marriage ceremonies accounted for 90% of all marriages, but fell to 73% in 2006. Civil ceremonies were most popular in urban areas such as Dublin, Limerick (39%), Galway (34%), Wicklow (33%), and Cork (31%). By contrast, they accounted for just over 10% of marriages in counties such as Donegal and Monaghan.

The above statistics for civil marriages fits perfectly with the suggestions of wedding dresses designers, for 2010. Everything is simplified, it is the new trend.

This was because of the economical problems the whole world is facing? Perhaps… it is about time to stop some excesses in weddings.

Τhe autumn ends. Christmas is approaching and couples who are thinking to get married in the summer of 2010 should already be doing their planning. Because there may be questions about weddings in Skopelos I consider that its my obligation to inform you on general topics.

1. In Skopelos Greece, do they perform either a civil or a religious wedding?

Yes, either a civil or a religious ceremony (or both) may be performed in Skopelos.

2. How to Get Married in Skopelos Greece

Marriage licenses can be obtained from one’s current place of residence, prior to coming to Greece, and are generally accepted by the Greek authorities.

Applications and/or Documents Required to Obtain a Greek Marriage License: Bring along original copies of the following (and be sure pack these in your hand luggage, never in your checked bags):

Passport or other travel document

Certified copy of Birth Certificate

If previously married, a certified copy of the divorce decree, or a death certificate if married ended due to death of spouse.

Confirmation that there is no impediment to the marriage.

A copy of the newspaper in which the wedding notice was published. Wedding notices should be published in one of the local newspapers in the Greek language (and the names should be phonetically written in Greek and not in Latin Characters) before the application for a marriage license is submitted. In small towns where newspapers are not published, notices are posted by the mayor or president of the community at the City Hall Community Office.

Please Note:

All civil documents (birth, death, divorce, etc.,) must be endorsed with an official Apostille Stamp that can be obtained from the Secretary of State of the issuing state.

All documents in English (except passport) must be officially translated into Greek. Our company Willow Weddings & Event Management can translate in your behalf all the legal documents

Notifications:

All documents must be taken to the City Hall (Demarchio)

The marriage license is issued seven days after the submission of the application and is good for six months.

Upon issuance of the marriage license, the concerned persons must jointly submit another application to the Mayor or President of the Community where they will marry. The official then sets the date for the wedding ceremony.

Two witnesses, provided by the marrying couple, must attend the wedding ceremony, one of whom must serve as an interpreter. Witnesses should have their passports or Greek identification cards with them.

I will be more than happy to answer anything else you might want. Happy plan!

Another favorite couple, wonderful people both. Sissy lived in Athens Stavros in Thessaloniki. They decided to marry and stay Thessaloniki. Our cooperation throughout the preparation of their marriage was perfect. From the beginning, Sissy knew what she wanted. Her favorite color is green like the color of her eyes. We use 700 kg green apples for the entire wedding design and plenty of Hydrangea white flower. There were apples everywhere. At the ceremony, the reception, the centerpieces, in thank you cards.Everywhere.

Several new proposals for the wedding gowns of 2010. Airy fabrics, silks, ecologically and a very important criterion for most designers simplicity, elegance and comfort. Thus, as should be the emergence of a women – bride today. She works, has a lot of interests, she is independent, contribute to her family. At least in my view.

I chose some photos, representative samples, which I liked very very much and that is best for destination and beach weddings.
